about me

Born in Alor Setar, state capital of Kedah Darulaman, Malaysia. I studied in SJK (C) Pumpong, SMJK Keat Hwa and INTI Penang before I departed to University at Buffalo (UB), New York, for a bachelor’s degree. I received my bachelor’s degree in 2005, and master’s degree in 2007 from UB with Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering major. Then, I went to Michigan Technological University for Doctorate (PhD) degree in Mechanical Engineering - Engineering Mechanics. My research focus was development of algorithms for formation flying navigation.

After my PhD graduation in 2012, I had the opportunity to join the Cubesat team as a research fellow in Satellite Research Centre (SRC), School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU). We successfully launched VELOX-PII, VELOX-I, VELOX-II and VELOX-CI during that period.

In 2017, I joined National University of Singapore as a research fellow and took the challenges in formation flying orbit maneuver mission design under Satellite Technology and Research (STAR) Centre. The STAR Centre successfully launched a maritime monitoring satellite, Lumelite-4 in April 2023, with Lumelite-1 to Lumelite-3 are currently waiting for launch opportunity.

Since late 2023, I became the Lecturer (Educator Track) in Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, NUS. I’m primary teaching the courses for Space Technology Specialization such as EE3105, EE4314 and EE4115. I’m also the lab instructor for EE2026, and tutor for EE2211.

Currently, my research includes the space solar power system for all electric aircraft applications, attitude determination algorithms, multi-sensor fusion for target tracking and space object tracking for space situation awareness.
